Marc Jansen started to set up the laboratory for applied computer science in February 2011. His research background is in software engineering especially for distributed and mobile systems. He studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. After finishing his diploma he joined the COLLIDE research group, where he worked on his dissertation about the integration of smart devices in Java applications. After finishing his PhD he started to work for the central IT service provider of the North Rine-Westphalia where he was heading the SAP Customer Center of Expertise (CCoE). Additionally he was working as a lecturer both at the University of Duisburg-Essen as well as at the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
His main research interests are in the area of software engineering for distributed systems. Currently he is focussing especially on software engineering for Cloud Computing scenarios and the integration of mobile devices.
Since September 2012 he is working as a senior guest lecturer at the Linnaeus University. Dr Jansen has been awarded a docent title in Media Technology in August 2014.
